The Sacramento Choral Society & Orchestra (SCSO) announced the addition of a new board member, Dave Allen, who will serve as assistant director of marketing and strategic planning, working closely with board directors to further the vision, goals, and success of the SCSO.
Dave Allen is also known as KCRA’s “Chopper Dave,” who pilots the Sacramento skies in his trusty helicopter, reporting on the day’s news from his eagle-eye perspective.
A native of Maine, Dave relocated to Tacoma, WA, and then studied broadcasting at Eastern Washington University. After his first broadcasting job at KXLY in Spokane, Dave served as a volunteer pilot for the Spokane County Sherriff and helped launch their Air One aviation program. He later produced and narrated a variety of industrial and training videos for the aviation and firefighting industries.
After serving in Iraq, graduating from the Army Command and General Staff College, and 23 years as a Military Veteran of the National Guard and Reserves, Dave retired as a U.S. Army Major.
A proud father of two daughters who still reside in Spokane, WA, he enjoys golf, skiing, and horseback riding, particularly equestrian polo.
“Dave’s diverse background, dedication, and enthusiasm promise to bring a unique skill set to the arts nonprofit organization as the SCSO continues with our 20th successful concert season,” said Jeannie Brown. “The entire SCSO offers up a harmonious welcome to its newest board member, Dave Allen!”
