ORANGEVALE/FAIR OAKS, CA (MPG) - What better way to celebrate surviving the end of an unprecedented school year, than to have a parade! That’s exactly what both graduating classes from Casa Roble and Bella Vista did, thanks to parents who took matters into their own hands, not knowing if in-person graduations would take place.
“We didn’t know until late spring that we would be having a “real graduation,” said Melissa Conley, Casa parent volunteer, “We wanted to make sure that we were going to celebrate our kids one way or another, so we planned this, and it was great!”
Continuing a great tradition started last year by the Casa Roble 2020 graduating class, both Casa Roble and Bella Vista parents coordinated a parade with cooperation of the Sunrise Mall management.
Bella Vista held their parade a day prior to their graduation and Casa Roble held their parade the day after graduation. Both events were filled with happy participants in decorated cars, wearing graduation robes and huge smiles parading in front of family, friends and fans lining the parade route.
Casa’s parade was kicked off with congratulatory remarks from County Supervisor Sue Frost, a trumpet solo from Orangevale musician “Chaz” who played “Pomp and Circumstance” and the Star Spangled Banner played by the Citrus Heights Marching Band. The parade was led by Sac Metro Fire and streamed by Orangevale Live who interviewed students that thanked parents, teachers and the community for all their support.
By all accounts, both parades were a huge success with heartfelt reviews and accolades from those who watched in person and online.
“This is a tradition we hope will continue for years to come,” Conley added. Congratulations to the graduating of Class of 2021! We wish you all the best!
