ORANGEVALE-FAIR OAKS, CA (MPG) - Give your child a summer to remember at the Orangevale-Fair Oaks Food Bank Farm.

Children entering first to fifth grades will explore, create, learn and play in three-day farm camps. Three farm camps are available from June 24 to 26, July 15 to 17 and July 29 to 31, from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. daily.

Through hands-on activities, campers will learn where their food comes from, how farms operate and why giving back matters. From seed planting and pollination to composting and food preservation, kids will develop a deeper connection to nature and our Orangevale-Fair Oaks community.

“We are excited to welcome local youth back to our farm camps!” said Lacey Yuke, Food Bank farm manager. “One of our favorite parts is teaching children how the farm and Food Bank work together to help others. Last year, our farm grew over 10,500 pounds of fresh produce.”

Each farm camp features a different theme, allowing children to attend multiple sessions, although activities are similar. Campers will rotate through various activities, including harvesting vegetables, exploring insect life cycles, creating art, and more.

Parents have praised the program for its fun, engaging and educational impact.

“Brooklyn had a fantastic time at Farm Camp this summer,” said a local parent. “She was always eager to go every morning and happy to share her experiences when we picked her up. Her favorite part was picking carrots and when the chicken visited. We knew she had a fabulous time when she came home covered in dirt. Thank you for the wonderful experience.”

Registration is now open for one camp or all three. Each camp costs $120 and is limited to 30 campers. Volunteers aged 14 and older are also needed. Visit FoodBank.Farm to register and learn more.
